Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x5-inch loaf pan by greasing it with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg, molasses, and buttermilk until smooth and well incorporated.
  5. Stir in the hot water gently until the batter is smooth.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. Pour the prepared batter into the lined loaf pan and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes.
  8. Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
