Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bring this mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add 1 cup of plain flour into the saucepan. Stir continuously until the dough forms a smooth ball.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat, allowing the dough to cool for about 4-5 minutes. Then, add 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence to the dough, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and spray the basket with nonstick spray.
