Step-by-Step Instructions for Japanese Beef Curry
  1. Begin by chopping the beef chuck into bite-sized pieces, ensuring they are uniform for even cooking.
  2. In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef chunks, browning them for about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat to medium and add the chopped onions. Sauté for around 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  4. Stir in the diced carrots and potatoes, followed by the curry powder and soy sauce. Mix well for about 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in approximately 4 cups of water to cover the ingredients, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 60 minutes.
  6. After an hour, check seasoning and adjust with salt or soy sauce. Serve the curry hot over rice or with bread.
