  • 1 pound ground pork or shrimp main protein; swap with chicken, tofu, or veggie mix for vegetarian option
  • 6 cups chicken broth vegetable broth as vegetarian substitute
For Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce opt for tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil olive oil as lighter alternative
For Freshness
  • ¼ cup sliced green onions can use chives or shallots
  • 3 cloves garlic fresh cloves preferred, or garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger use fresh for optimal taste

Steps
  1. In a large pot over medium heat, combine 6 cups of chicken broth with 2 tablespoons of grated ginger and 3 minced garlic cloves. Stir well and bring to a gentle boil, simmering for about 5 minutes.
  2. Once the broth is boiling, drop in the wontons. Cook them according to the package instructions, usually around 3-5 minutes, or until they float.
  3. Stir in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Let the soup simmer for another minute.
  4. Before serving, stir in ¼ cup of sliced green onions.
  5. Ladle the hot wonton soup into bowls, making sure each serving has wontons and broth.
