For the Cheese Mixture
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese Can substitute with cottage cheese.
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Can replace with more ricotta.
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese Pecorino Romano can be used.
  • 1 Egg Omit for dairy-free version.
  • cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Use low-moisture mozzarella.
For Assembly
  • 9 ounces Lasagna Noodles Regular boiled or no-boil.
  • ¼ cup Fresh Parsley Can substitute with dried parsley.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef and Italian sausage with diced onion until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
  2. Drain excess grease, then add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and sugar. Let simmer on low for 10-15 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, blend ricotta cheese, cream cheese, grated Parmesan, beaten egg, and chopped fresh parsley until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce across the bottom, lay down a layer of noodles, and add cheese mixture. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
