- Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- In the last 3-4 minutes of cooking, add broccoli florets to the pot.
- Reserve about ½ cup of the starchy pasta water before draining the spaghetti and broccoli.
- Drain the spaghetti and broccoli, then set aside.
- In the same pot, warm 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic and red pepper flakes for 1-2 minutes.
- Return the drained spaghetti and broccoli to the pot. Toss with lemon juice and zest, adding reserved pasta water as needed.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper, stirring to combine.
- Plate the pasta, topping with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
