Step-by-Step Instructions for Hobo Casserole Ground Beef
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 pound of ground beef and brown for 5–7 minutes.
- Add 1 chopped medium onion and 2 minced garlic cloves, cooking for another 3–4 minutes until translucent.
- Layer thinly sliced potatoes over the beef, seasoning with salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and 0.5 teaspoon of paprika.
- Sprinkle 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese and 0.5 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the potatoes.
- Pour 0.5 cup of beef broth or water around the edges and optionally drizzle with 0.25 cup of milk.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 15–20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and potatoes are fork-tender.
