Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef for 5–7 minutes until browned, then drain excess fat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for an additional 3–4 minutes.
  3. Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish and layer thinly sliced potatoes over it, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Sprinkle cheddar and optional parmesan cheese over the top and pour beef broth around the edges.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and potatoes are fork-tender.
  6. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.
