Casserole Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish with olive oil.
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté diced onion and minced garlic for about 3 minutes until translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet; cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Mix in cooked white rice and 1 cup of tomato sauce. Cook an additional 2-3 minutes off heat.
- Layer half of the chopped cabbage in the prepared baking dish.
- Spoon the beef and rice mixture over the cabbage, then add the remaining cabbage on top.
- Drizzle remaining tomato sauce over the casserole, cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
