  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour Can be swapped with a gluten-free flour blend if needed.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Panko breadcrumbs or crushed crackers for extra crunch.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic is a fantastic substitute.
  • to taste Salt and Black Pepper Add to taste for perfect flavor balance.

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Blanch the asparagus in a pot of salted boiling water for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and transfer to ice water.
  3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan. Whisk in 1/4 cup of flour to create a roux, then gradually stir in 2 cups of milk until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of cheddar and 1 cup of mozzarella until melted. Add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Lay the blanched asparagus in the greased baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over it, ensuring it's well coated.
  6. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
